Climate action in Olympia

Vashon Audubon is taking action on climate change

On January 22, about 225 members of Washington Audubon chapters, Climate Solutions, and Washington Women CAN gathered in Olympia to urge state legislators to take action now on climate change—the biggest threat to birds. Six members of Vashon Audubon participated.

The group met with legislators and their aides to advocate for the adoption of three carbon-reduction policies:

  • transition to 100 percent carbon-free electricity
  • put a price on carbon pollution and invest in clean air and energy, in healthy forests and water, and in jobs while protecting vulnerable communities
  • transition to clean fuels for transportation, the leading source of carbon emissions in our state
